Pistachio Experience
17-21 September

Meet my roots, deep in the authentic heart of La Mancha — an authentic journey through family, tradition, and the hands-on experience of the pistachio harvest.

Come to this rural experience

Where Don Quixote once chased windmills, you can take this adventure to slow down, reconnect, and uncover a side of La Mancha only locals truly know.
Guided by my family, you’ll discover how we grow and harvest pistachios with care and intention. You’ll touch the soil, gather the fruit, and see how the simplest acts — harvesting, cooking, sharing and yoga— become rituals of presence.

Here, between the windmills, you’ll experience the everyday life of La Mancha — from local traditions to the quiet countryside and the birthplace of authentic Manchego cheese.

Our home: in my hometown "El Pueblo"

Located on one of the few tree-lined streets of my hometown, Argamasilla de Alba, Casa Rural Alonso Quijano embodies the essence of rural life in La Mancha. Just 30 minutes from the windmills of Don Quixote and around 2 hours from Madrid Airport, this peaceful house welcomes you to slow down and connect with the rhythm of the land.

Recognized among the most recommended rural houses in Castilla-La Mancha, the villa offers 8 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms — four with private ensuite bathrooms and five shared — along with three fully equipped kitchens, cozy living areas, and a warm, homely atmosphere. Outside, we’ll share meals by the BBQ, relax by the pool, and gather for Yoga in the open air, where the sun and sky of La Mancha awaken your senses.

Located near where my grandmother once lived, this home carries the soul of La Mancha — a place to pause, reconnect, and experience authentic village life.
Round-trip shuttle transportation from Madrid Airport is included, so your journey begins and ends with ease.

Activities

This retreat is kept intentionally for a curated group to provide you with the care and attention you deserve. Our group will have a maximum of 14 people.

Each morning begins with a gentle yoga practice, designed to awaken your body, clear your mind, and connect you to the rhythm of La Mancha’s natural beauty. We move through grounding postures, breathwork, and mindful stretches.

Our morning sessions invite you to build strength and softness, preparing you for a day of exploration, relaxation, and simple joys under the open sky.

No matter your level of experience, these practices offer a space to listen inward, move with intention.

This hands-on workshop is divided in two-day journey into the world of pistachios — a family tradition rooted in our land.

Day 1: Visit my brother’s farm to see how pistachios grow and harvest your own by hand. Later, we’ll peel the pink outer layer and let the nuts dry under the sun.

Day 2: Transform the pistachios into delicious recipes where they take center stage. At the end, you’ll take home a bag of the pistachios you harvested — a taste of La Mancha to enjoy and share.

Experience the land, the tradition, and the joy of working with your hands — all while connecting to the authentic rhythm of rural life.

Travel back in time as we visit the legendary Don Quixote windmills, stepping inside these century-old icons to experience their history up close.
Feel the spirit of La Mancha as you walk the same lands once imagined by Cervantes, surrounded by the raw beauty of vast fields and endless skies.

After our visit, we’ll gather for a traditional Manchego lunch.
More than just the famous cheese, La Mancha’s cuisine is rustic, hearty, and full of character — a true reflection of its land and people.

Each bite tells a story of tradition, simplicity, and love for the land.

With full hearts and full bellies, we’ll relax and soak in the peaceful landscape — a perfect pause to savor the essence of La Mancha.

As the sun begins its descent over the fields of La Mancha, join us for a gentle sunset yoga session that invites you to pause, breathe, and let go. Practiced outdoors on the villa’s sunlit patio, this class combines slow, mindful movements with calming stretches to release tension from the day.

Feel the golden light on your skin, the breeze in your hair, and the quiet of the rural landscape around you. This is your time to connect with your body, your breath, and the present moment, preparing for a restful evening and deep relaxation under the Manchego sky.

Step into the living pages of Don Quixote as we wander through my beloved hometown, Argamasilla de Alba — the place where Cervantes began writing his masterpiece. We’ll visit La Cueva de Medrano, where history whispers through stone walls, explore the Church of San Juan Bautista, and stop by a local shop where you can taste and buy authentic Manchego cheese and other delicacies from the region. When I want to win someone’s heart, I always bring this cheese with me — over the years, I’ve carried many kilos in my suitcase. This time, you can taste it here and bring your favorite back home.
